This happens all the time, your working on your Content Manager and something pulls you away for a bit. When you return, you find you were auto logged off and have to sign back in.

While we think that timeouts are good thing for security, there is a way to change it if you want to.

***Disclaimer*** Be vary careful editing system file. One small mistake can take your Scala system down. Use at your own risk! ***

  • locate the file "web.xml in: [Tomcat_home]/conf/web.xml:
  • Open the XML file in wordpad or an XML editor.
  • Locate the following node in the file.
  • <session-config>
    <session-timeout>30</session-timeout>
    </session-config>

  • change the timeout value (in minutes)
  • Save the file
  • Restart the Tomcat service
