Post How to remove Player errors from the PosgreSQL database

You have probably noticed the errors appear in your "Player Health" page all the time. If you don't regularly clear them they build up and slow down the Content Manager performance. You may also find that after you get a lot on entries the "Clear All Problems" stops working.

This was the case recently with one of our clients who had over 400,000 entries! Here are the steps to clear the list using a database command. Don't worry, it's pretty easy. 😀

First off, perform a back-up of the the Content Manager and database instructions for this are here -> Make backups often - especially before update and functions such as this.

After the back up is complete -

  • Stop the Apache Tomcat and Scala Transmission Server Services. (Start / Control Panel / Administrative Tools / Services / Apache Tomcat Service, and Scala Transmission Server Service. Right-click to select Stop.)
  • Go to Start / Programs / PostgreSQL /PGAdmin III
  • On the left side Double-click on 'PostgreSQL Database Server 8.3 or 9.0', and key in the PostgreSQL Super User Password when prompted.
  • Under Databases highlight the CM schema.
  • Select the 'Execute Arbitrary SQL Queries' button at top (Icon with SQL and pencil).
  • Enter: TRUNCATE TABLE st_network_error CASCADE;
  • Select 'Execute Query' button (Green arrow)
  • After query completes restart the Apache Tomcat, and Scala Transmission Server Services.

Login to your Content Manager and check the "Player Health" page. It should show no errors.

Good luck!
