Post Twitter For Scala

Social media is all the rage these days so it is no wonder we get asked "Can I display my Twitter feed on Scala" a lot.

The answer, YES you can!

The easiest way is to display it as an RSS feed using the Scala RSS Template kit (available from your Scala VAR or us).

  • Create a message from the RSS Template-
  • .

  • In the ULR field enter your Twitter RSS address, which is (without quotes):
  • ""

  • Save and add to a play list and your up and running!

Two words of caution!!

  • #1 Your player MUST have internet access (at least the ability to reach the URL above).
  • #2 The RSS feed will show every Tweet your account sends. Meaning, if someone Tweets an inappropriate message, it will show up on your Scala screens.

If you want to have your Twitter feed moderated automatically, we (or any other Scala VAR) can create a custom Twitter app for you.

UPDATE (Posted Feb 13, 2013)

As of March 5, 2013 - Twitter will make mandatory the use of it's new version 1.1 API. In short, the new API will drop support for XML in favor of JSON and will require authentication via OAuth 1.0a.

This meas that Scala will no longer be able to pull and display your Twitter feed.

We are working on a solution using Flypaper and hope to have it available soon.
